What Sabzi is
Sabzi ("Sabz" in the UI — green in Persian) is an ecological landscape design tool. A homeowner or designer enters a property address, draws the property boundary and planting zones on a map, and the app matches native plants to each zone based on real environmental data — sun exposure, soil type and moisture, drainage, contamination — pulled from USDA and USGS sources and computed on the map itself. The output is a per-zone plant list the user can build into a planting plan and export as a report.
The plant catalog is scoped to native, ecologically-functional species for the Mid-Atlantic US, weighted toward ecological services — pollinator support, stormwater absorption, edible or medicinal use, wildlife habitat — rather than purely ornamental criteria.
Why it existsThe core idea: most homeowners who want to plant natives don't know what will actually work in this yard — this sun exposure, this soil, this problem corner. Sabzi replaces guesswork with a per-zone, data-backed recommendation, and keeps the ecological reasoning — why this plant, what it does for the site — visible instead of hidden behind a nursery tag.
Climate Data
The app collects various climatic data from contour lines, impervious surfaces, sun exposure by inserting tree locations and other structures.
APP
The APP gives user curated list of functional both ecologically and edibility and various other criteria that would be specific to selected section on a yard. The consideration includes soil, wind, sun, climate data and topographic info to guide clients on proper plant selection and potential nurseries to purchase from maximum impact by selecting local suppliers.
The user then is able to purchase and place orders from different nurseries and have a report on potential planting areas and a map of potential area selection planting.
